Position Overview
As a Web Developer at Pocketride, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing our official Pocketride website using WordPress. You will ensure the site is visually appealing, fully responsive, optimized for performance, and aligned with Pocketride’s brand identity. Your work will directly impact user experience, lead generation, and the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
Primary Responsibilities
● Build and manage the Pocketride website using WordPress CMS.
● Ensure the site is fully responsive, mobile-friendly, and optimized for performance.
● Customize WordPress themes and templates to reflect Pocketride’s brand identity.
● Design intuitive, user-friendly page layouts with clear calls to action.
● Maintain consistent typography, color schemes, and spacing for a professional look.
● Regularly update visuals and layouts to keep the website fresh and engaging.
● Minify CSS, JavaScript, and images to reduce page load times.
● Use caching plugins (e.g., WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache) and a CDN for faster delivery.
● Conduct regular speed audits with tools like Google PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.
● Implement on-page SEO best practices, including meta titles, descriptions, and alt tags.
● Ensure proper URL structures, sitemaps, and schema markup for better indexing.
● Monitor keyword performance and make improvements to boost search rankings.
● Configure and maintain essential WordPress plugins (security, forms, SEO, analytics).
● Integrate CRM tools, email capture forms, and Google Analytics for tracking user data.
● Ensure compliance with privacy regulations (GDPR/PIPEDA) for all data collection.
● Collaborate with the Marketing and Growth teams to create campaign-specific landing pages.
● Update banners, promotions, and content to align with live marketing initiatives.
● Implement lead capture workflows to funnel user data to the sales/marketing team.
● Regularly update WordPress core, themes, and plugins to maintain security.
● Set up automated backups and monitor site health.
● Protect against malware and vulnerabilities using security plugins (e.g., Wordfence).
● Perform cross-browser and cross-device compatibility testing (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox).
● Test forms, links, and workflows to ensure proper functionality.
● Identify and resolve bugs or broken links promptly.
● Monitor traffic analytics and prepare regular reports on website performance.
● Suggest and implement improvements based on data insights and user feedback.
● Stay updated on the latest WordPress, SEO, and UX trends to keep the site competitive.
Preferred Qualifications
● Basic experience with WordPress development, including theme customization and page builders (Elementor, WPBakery, Divi)
● Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles.
● Understanding of UI/UX design, layout structuring, and design consistency.
● Exposure to SEO tools or practices such as meta tags, alt text, sitemaps, and schema markup.
● Experience using tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, GTmetrix, or PageSpeed Insights.
● Knowledge of website performance optimization — caching, image compression, and CDN usage.
● Experience integrating plugins, forms, CRM tools, or analytics tracking.
● Basic understanding of website security practices and WordPress maintenance.
● Experience with Figma, Canva, or other design tools is an added advantage.
● Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
● Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt to new tools or technologies.
